Installation

Three steps for the first launch.

ElseKept is independently distributed outside the Mac App Store. The current release is not Apple-notarized, so macOS asks for one explicit approval before first launch.

    Drag to Applications

    Open the DMG and drag ElseKept onto the Applications folder shown beside it.

    Open it once

    Open ElseKept from Applications. macOS will protect the first launch because the current release is not Apple-notarized.

  3. 3

    Choose Open Anyway

    Open System Settings, select Privacy & Security, scroll to Security and choose Open Anyway for ElseKept.

After launch

Closing the window is safe.

ElseKept remains in the menu bar so scheduled backups can continue. Command-Q quits the resident app and stops scheduled work until ElseKept is opened again.
