iCloud Drive storage

Encrypted Mac backup inside the iCloud storage you already use.

Choose an iCloud Drive folder as the primary ElseKept repository or as an additional encrypted copy. No separate OAuth connection is required.

ElseKept writes an encrypted repository into a folder you select. iCloud moves those encrypted bytes between Apple devices; ElseKept creates the recovery points, verifies them and unlocks them with the separate Recovery Kit.

Primary repository or additional copy

An iCloud Drive folder can hold the live primary repository for a backup plan. It can also receive an immutable replica of a repository stored elsewhere. Google Drive and Dropbox, by comparison, are additional replica destinations only.

What iCloud can see

File contents and backup metadata remain inside ElseKept’s encrypted repository format before they reach iCloud Drive. Apple still receives normal storage metadata such as encrypted object sizes, transfer timing and the account used for iCloud.

Recovery on another Mac

Sign in to the Apple Account, let iCloud Drive download the selected repository or committed replica, install ElseKept and provide the separately stored Recovery Kit. A cloud-only item is not treated as downloaded recovery evidence.

Capacity and availability

The Finder can show large iCloud capacity while the Mac itself has less available space. ElseKept reports local File Provider state and authenticated recovery-point health separately because cloud capacity and local download capacity are different.
